The Swiss Water® Process – How It Works

Most decaf coffees lose something along the way. Not this one. The Swiss Water Process is widely considered the gold standard of decaffeination for those who want a clean, chemical-free option that preserves the original taste of the coffee. Here's how it works:

1. Soak & Extract

High-quality green (unroasted) coffee beans are soaked in hot water to dissolve the caffeine along with flavour compounds.

2. Filter & Preserve

This water is then passed through a carbon filter that removes only the caffeine molecules, leaving the essential oils and flavour compounds behind.

3. Green Coffee Extract (GCE)

The resulting caffeine-free liquid—called Green Coffee Extract—is used to decaffeinate new batches of coffee, maintaining all the flavour and none of the caffeine.

4. Repeat, Refine, Perfect

Over several hours, caffeine is removed from the beans while flavour stays intact. No solvents. No shortcuts. Just careful science and clean water.
